Bio
R. Tyson McQuay is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Master Addiction Counselor (LMAC). He earned his Master’s in Counseling from Mid-America Nazarene University in 2008. Tyson is no stranger to addiction and the havoc it reeks on individuals and families. Tyson has over 15 years of experience in the addiction and criminal justice fields serving diverse clients in various capacities while working diligently to offer hope to those who have been impacted by the web of addiction. He believes that addiction and mental health issues do not have to be a life-sentence. Tyson also believes that within each of us is an innate ability to change and he prides himself on assisting individuals discover that power to help them heal and meet their life goals.
Debra Maxey LSCSW, LCAC
Clinician and Batterer’s Intervention Specialist
Bio
Debra M. Maxey is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC). She earned her Master’s in Social Work from Washburn University in 2010. Debra serves as the Batterers Intervention Program Director and a Clinical Addiction Counselor. She has over 12 years of experience in different settings with diverse clients. She has experience working with individuals struggling with domestic violence, parenting, relationships, stress, conflict management, anger, depression, addictions, and shame as crisis intervention. Her therapeutic approach is client-centered, and she utilizes the therapeutic modalities that best fit the individual to include cognitive behavioral, psychoeducational and family systems. In addition to her counseling experience, she spent 6 years in the United States Navy and retired from the Kansas Army National Guard in 2016. Debra believes that change happens when people are empowered and given guidance on how to draw on their own strengths to overcome obstacles in order to move forward. She also believes that mental health illnesses, addictions and behavior go hand in hand. She understands that helping people identify, work through change the underlying causes of the issues in their life is important to create healthy change and a solid base to continue successfully into their future.
Megan Waters, MS
Office Manager and Supervised Programs Monitor
Bio
Megan has a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science from Mount Marty College and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University. Megan has been involved in intensive supervised probation for 14 years, with specialized training in cognitive behavioral approaches such as Thinking for a Change, Moral Recognition Therapy, and Substance Abuse Program. She has additional certificates for specialized caseload supervision for sex offenders, domestic violence, mental health, and specialized substance abuse programing. Megan has been involved in committees and organizations involving Mental Health and Suicide prevention, Domestic Violence and Victim Support, Youth Support and Resources, and Grant Writing and Preparation. Outside the office she is involved with 4-H and livestock, agriculture and business, and youth sports, such as wrestling, football, baseball, and track.
Sarah Barth, LAC

Bio
Sarah is a Licensed Addiction Counselor who has a Bachelor of General Studies degree in Sociology from the University of Kansas and is studying Social Work at the University of Kansas.
Sarah joined the A Connecting Pointe team in 2021 and utilizes a compassionate and collaborate approach to counseling in an effort to foster hope and encourage positive change.
Sarah grew up in Nebraska and has been living in the KC Metro Area for over 20 years. She enjoys spending time with family, exploring the great outdoors, traveling, and volunteering.
